Daniel Pieger Obituary
Born in Waukegan on August 27, 1977 to John Pieger and Kathy (nee Nelson) Wagner, Danny played in the Lake Villa Little League during his childhood. A 1995 graduate of Grayslake High School, Dan loved playing baseball, the outdoors, fishing, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He also attended St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.
Survivors include his parents John Pieger of McHenry and Kathy (Kevin) Wagner of Lindenhurst; his siblings, Kelli (Jason) Mulé of Grayslake, Shannon Wagner of Lindenhurst, Mary Pieger of Waukesha, WI, and Kevin Wagner, Jr. of Lindenhurst; his grandparents, Hildegard Pieger of Grayslake and Harry and Gerry Nelson of Crossville, TN; his step-grandparents, Urban and Patricia Wagner of McHenry; his aunts and uncles, Hildegard (Ted) Geiger, Donna (Rafael) Gonzalez and Harry (Joanne) Nelson; his cousins, Erich Geiger, Michelle, Phillip, Jason, Alex, Kayla, Brianna, Simon and Steelie; his lifelong friend, Ray Hajduk; and extended friends and family from Crossville, TN.
Danny's grandfather, Ludwig Pieger precedes him in death.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 16, 2007 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
Friends of the family may visit from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., Sunday, April 15, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.
Dan was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 9 and fought a long hard battle against it.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 500 N. Dearborn St, Ste 305, Chicago, IL 60610 or Lake Villa Township Little League, P.O. Box 123, Lake Villa, IL 60046.

Kathy and Family,
Dan was a good friend of mine, and I will always consider myself lucky to have known him. The memories of the summers we spent at baseball games, and concerts will always bring a smile to my face. Dan was without a doubt the one person I knew that defined the saying "full of life". The world is less of a place without him in it. From all of the friends and crew at the Lake Villa Tribune Agency, you have our deepest condolences.

Kathy and Family. I can never say how much we will miss Dan. We are lucky to have him as our friend. The world will not be the same without Dan. As Dan would say GO CUBS!

Kathy, Kevin, and family,
Words can not express my sorrow for the loss of Danny. I was fortunate to have Danny work for me in his early teens, and then lucky enough to call him a friend later in life. I'll always think of him as a teen working at the news agency with the other kids. Danny would have that boyish smile, just to let you know he had things figured out a step ahead of everyone else. I will also remember his smile as we watched the Cubs play at Wrigley. I will miss Danny, but my life is all the better for having known him.
