Iris Nixon

1959 - 2017

Iris Mamie Nixon was born on April 12, 1959 to the late Ira Nixon and Mamie Nixon in Waukegan, IL. Iris joined First Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership Rev. L. C. Luther. She attended North Chicago Community High School and graduated with the class of 1977 in North Chicago, IL. Iris was a longtime employee of Lake Forest Hospital in the dietary office, where many who encountered her presence was always greeted with a smile. On a sunny Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2:15pm at Aperion Healthcare the Angels came to take her home. Iris leaves to celebrate a loving life, her mother, Mamie Nixon of North Chicago, IL; A son, Tremain; grandchildren, Isaiah and Iyonna Nixon; sister, Cynthia (Louis) Wilkins; brother, Louis (Delores) Nixon; nieces, Tai-Amber White, Lakesha, and Alexandria Nixon; nephews, Gerald, Demontaye, Trellis, Cedrick, Benjamin, and Michael Nixon and a favorite great niece, Phoenix White. Iris was preceded in death by her father, Ira Nixon; great nephew, Tai'Son White and Sisters-in-Law, Sylvia and Pearl Nixon. A Celebration of Her Life Services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 2219 14th Street, North Chicago, IL. Pastor Lee Z. Maxey, Officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories Cemetery, North Chicago, IL. Arrangements by Bradshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 W.
