Joseph Michael Dillmann (known as Smokin' Joe) passed peacefully on June 14. He was born September 29, 1940, in Chicago, IL, to Sylvester and Bridie (nee Harhen) Dillmann.

The youngest of three children, Joseph began his pharmaceutical career at a young age as a bicycle delivery boy for a local pharmacy. Joseph graduated from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1962. He became a licensed Pharmacist in the State of Illinois the same year. He became a licensed Pharmacist in the State of Nevada in 1993, and in the State of Arizona in 1996, maintaining all licenses up to his passing.

The National Board of Addiction Examiners granted Joseph the MAC (Master Additions Counselor) in 2000. At this time he initiated a service, "Drug Help", an addictions counseling service for those in need.

Joseph was well known on the National Lecture Circuit, speaking on Drugs to such groups as A.O.R.N. He partnered for several years with knowledgeable people in the field of Drugs. The Illinois Police Federation presented Joseph Dillmann, R.Ph., Drug Abuse Educator, The Public Service Awrd in 1988.

He was a Pharmacist for many years at Weiss Memorial Hospital, and received an award for Employee Of The Year. At Condell Hospital Joseph was Head Pharmacist for 17 years. At Caremark he was a Pharmacist linking the patient with the Physician via prescriptions.

For many years Joseph refereed sports: softball, volleyball, basketball, girls' hockey, all for middle grade and high school. He also refereed men's and women's mixed softball games. Joseph received the IHSA Services Award for officiating to the High Schools of Illinois for 30 years. In later years he became an assigner of referees for the same sports. Joseph enjoyed both positions, and loved working with all the Referees, Athletic Directors, and especially the children.

He is survived by his second wife, Nancy C. Dillmann, of 37 years. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage: Patrick, Theresa, Brian, and Brendan, and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents, his sister and his brother.
