Robert Edwin "Bob" Anzinger

Robert "Bob" Edwin Anzinger, 78 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at his home. He was born August 11, 1943 to the late Joseph and Frances (Doty) Anzinger in Burlington, WI. On March 16, 1968, Bob was united in marriage with Virginia Cooper in McHenry, IL. Bob had many nicknames, but the most known were "Diesel Bob" and "Zinger." He was a proud owner of Bob's Diesel in McHenry for nineteen years. Prior to owning Bob's Diesel, Bob worked for McHenry Sand and Gravel for many years. From a young age, Bob enjoyed working on cars and trucks. He built race cars and raced them - his most known race car was his number 26 "Flower Power" car. Bob raced in Waukegan, Lake Geneva, and Rockford. He enjoyed trap shooting and even shared his passion with the Westosha High School trap shooting team for two years. Bob was known for his signature style of calling for the clay pigeon by saying "yah!" One of Bob's greatest joys was teaching others about his life experiences. He loved hunting and his dogs - especially his fur baby, Bubba. Bob was a life-long resident of Lake County and knew the Grass Lake area very well. He collected antiques, decoys, hunting, trap shooting, and racing memorabilia. After retirement, you could find Bob keeping himself busy scrapping. Above all things, Bob loved his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include, his wife of 53 years, Virginia; children, Debbie (Charlie) Kopp, Diane (Dave) Williams, and Beci (Jeff) Jablonski; grandchildren, Erin, Casey, Emma, Joshua, Christopher, Cody, Savannah, Tyler, and Molly (Mo); great-grandchildren, Leo and Winter; brothers, Joseph (Ruth) Anzinger and George (Kay) Anzinger; and his fur baby, Bubba. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two siblings.

Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until the time of service at 4:00PM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002.
