Roman Dolata Obituary

Dolata Jr., Roman Frank 81 of Zion, Illinois died on June 11, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 5, 1932 in Beaver, Wisconsin to the late Roman and Julia (nee Rupar) Dolata. Roman served his country in Vietnam, retiring from the Army as a Staff Sergeant in 1972 after a 20-year career. Following his retirement, he joined the motor pool in Fort Sheridan as a mechanic, where he worked until his retirement in 1987. Roman loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed spending time with his family, playing Santa Claus for his grandkids. Roman was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Erika (nee Gutbrod); four daughters, Sonja Field, Lydia Yuliano, Maryann (Fred) Farenzena and Carolyn (Tom) Roark; four sons, William (Mary) Wojnarowski, Ron Wojnarowski, Stan (Chris) Wojnarowski and Robert Wojnarowski; daughter-in-law, Shari Wojnarowski; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; his aunt, Kathryn Fiedorowicz; six sisters, Dorothy (Joe) Zielkowski, Leona Piche, Rose Marie (Chuck) Buechler, Toni (Al) Dondelinger, Dolly Key and Linda Peterson; two brothers, Leroy (Sharon) Dolata and Dan (Barb) Dolata; a sister-in-law, Koren Dolata; and a brother-in-law, Chet Kabacinski; and a host of nephews and nieces and other relatives. Roman was preceded in death by his first wife, Helga (nee Mueller); three sons, Karl-Heinz Dolata, Thomas Wojnarowski and Michael (Dorothy) Wojnarowski; three sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2013, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Ft. Sheridan Cemetery, Ft. Sheridan, IL.
