Ruth Liddle Obituary

Ruth E. Liddle, 87 years old, of Antioch, IL, passed away Wednesday January 21, 2009 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center, Lindenhurst, IL. She was born October 7, 1921 in Salem, WI the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva (Wilton) Turnock. On September 22, 1945 she married Kenneth Liddle in Salem, WI, moving to Beloit WI until 1949, when they settled in Antioch, IL. She was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, operated the Liddle's Farm Stand in Antioch with her husband from 1958-1989, loved to farm, read, bake, crossword puzzles, and cross stitching. Before her retirement, Ruth had worked for 28 years as a 4th/5th Grade teacher at Antioch Grade School, and later was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her children, Elisabeth (Stuart) Allen of Prairie du Chien, WI, and John (Patricia) Liddle of Antioch; six grandchildren, Christina Liddle, Stephen Liddle, Rebecca Liddle, Chad Halter, Corey Halter, and Heather Willis; four great-grandchildren, Mason Perez, Logan Perez, Benjamin Willis and Amanda Willis; and many friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ken on July 16, 1999; a daughter, Judy Halter; brother, John Turnock; and sister, Anna Punzel.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH 1055 Main St. (Rte 83), with visitation starting at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch, IL. Those desiring may make donations to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
