Barney "Duane" Hingson

Barney "Duane" Hingson, 79, passed away on July 24, 2025, at North Florida Hospital, in Gainesville, Florida, after a lengthy illness.
Born on August 31, 1945, Duane was a 1963 graduate of Suwannee High School. He was a proud fourth-generation Suwannee County farmer, growing tobacco, watermelons, soybeans and corn, and raising cattle. The family farm and fertilizer distributorship operated under the name Joe Hingson & Sons during his father's lifetime, and later as Hingson Brothers.
He found joy in spending quality time with his family and friends, and in the outdoors - hunting and fishing. He was an avid fan and decades long booster of his beloved Florida Gators. He was a cherished and loyal friend to many. He was "Pops" to his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Hingson (Heather) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Todd Hingson of Tampa, Florida; his sister, Yvonne Williams (Bob) of Eustis, Florida; and his cherished grandchildren: Joe and Emily Hingson of Atlanta, and Ellie and Drew Hingson of Lake City, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruby Hingson, and his siblings, Theron Hingson and Mary Frances Harrington.
The family will be hosting a visitation for family and friends at Daniels Funeral Home in Live Oak, on Sunday evening, July 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held the following morning, Monday, July 28 at Philadelphia Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., with interment immediately following on the same grounds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Duane's memory to Philadelphia Baptist Church.
