Carolyn Hudson Ward Obituary
In Loving Memory of Our Mother, Carolyn Davis Hudson Ward.
Our beautiful mother, Carolyn Davis Hudson Ward, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at her daughter Theresa's home in St. Marys, Georgia. Born on November 3, 1944, in Madison, Florida, our mom lived a life filled with compassion, strength, and an unshakable devotion to her faith, family, and countless friends.
Mom grew up on the Davis family farm in Greenville, Florida, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1962. She married our dad, Mike Hudson, and began her career at the State Exchange Bank, and later the Barnett Bank in Lake City. In her 40s, with great determination, she returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Florida. That milestone mirrored the heart of who she was: always striving to learn, grow, and help others. Her degree led her to a significant role as the Victim Witness Coordinator for the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida, where she guided and supported people through some of life's most difficult moments. Her work with victims of violent crimes was more than a job; it was her calling, reflecting the empathy and tremendous compassion that always made us so proud.
Faith was always an essential part of Mom's life. Raised Baptist, she later found spiritual fulfillment in the Catholic Church, formally entering into full Communion at Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City in 2002. After moving to Louisiana, she became a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville, where her faith continued to grow and guide her.
Those who knew our mom will remember her sincere kindness and her ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and always carried herself with grace. Whether she offered comfort, stood up for someone in need, or simply gave a genuine compliment, she tried to make the world a better place.
With much pride, she leaves a legacy in her daughters: Theresa Hudson and her husband, Lou Arguello, of St. Marys, Georgia, and Greta Hudson Honsberger and her husband, Rick Honsberger, of Mandeville, Louisiana.
Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Anne and Lettie Honsberger of New Orleans, James Grayson Honsberger of Mandeville, and her great-niece, Mary McKenzie Hurley of State College, Pennsylvania, who will always carry her love and lessons in their hearts.
Mom is also remembered by her brother, Roy "Buddy" Davis, and his wife, Virginia, of Greenville, Florida; nieces Melissa Davis of Greenville and Ginger Weldon Hurley of Luray, Virginia;
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Ward; her sister, Lily Davis Weldon; her mother, Lettie Thompson Davis; and her father, Roy Arch Davis.
Our mother was a woman of grace, great beauty, and love. She will be remembered not only as a wonderful mom and grandmother, but as a true friend and a light in so many lives. We will forever be grateful for the example she set and the love she gave so freely. Our beautiful mother's legacy will live on in us forever, and we will miss her for the rest of our lives.
