Edgar Nathaniel, Lockett, Jr., M.D, 93, of Tampa passed away October 20, 2014. Born in Johnson City, TN on November 15, 1920 to Edgar Nathaniel Lockett, Sr. and Lucy Kathryn Cooper. Predeceased by his wife of 56years, Helen Mings of West Frankfort, IL. Washington University School Of Medicine. USN Medical Officer in WWII. General/Orthopedic Surgeon at VA Hospital in Marion, IL, Internal Medicine at VA Hospital in Lake City, FL Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director and filled in for pastors with a style like Billy Graham.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, taxidermy, and  woodworking. Survived by four sons: Edgar (Sue), John (Carolyn), David (Suki), and Jerry (Jenny) Nine grandchildren: Mark, Denise, Amy, Sandra, Julie, David Lee, John, Jennifer, Jerry Alan , twelve great-grandchildren and sister: Kathryn Lockett. October 25, 2014 Visitation: Noon to 2pm. Service: 2 to 3pm  at Union Funeral Home, West Frankfort, IL. Graveside service to follow at Durham Cemetery, Long Branch, IL .

To the family of Edgar Nathaniel Lockett, Jr., M.D.

I send my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Dr. Lockett but know his time within our midst was extremely productive, kind and caring. I remember well the times in the First Baptist Church of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and all the other programs of faith our parents shared with us. Your father was an extremely kind and gentle soul and I remember well the sharing of both your mother and father when it came to matters of the heart and faith.

I hope his passing will bring knowledge that his time on earth has now brought the rewards he so richly deserved for a life well-lived. I send prayers for comfort in the knowledge he is now at rest eternally but remains a beacon of faith, love and hope to each and every one of you. I am certain you each will retain lovely life lessons from both of your parents to be carried forth to your own decendents.
