Gerold (Herold) Gene White, 86, of Live Oak, Florida, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Born February 23, 1939, in Hazel, Kentucky, Gerold was the son of the late John G. and Ruby Bailey White. The family later moved to Live Oak, Fl, where Gerold grew up and considered home. He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
Gerold's life was a testament to his passion for music and entertainment. A talented country music artist, he cut three albums and numerous singles throughout his career, notably charting with "Country in DC" and "Love Can." He toured extensively, performing his renowned Elvis show for thousands in venues from Nashville to the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.
After a life on the road, he and his family settled in the Moline, Illinois, area, where he owned, operated, and performed nightly in his popular nightclubs, Maverick I and Maverick II, even landing his own television show on WOC TV. Moving back home to Live Oak, Fl after retiring from the entertainment world, Gerold became a Posse and Auxiliary member of the Suwannee County Sheriff's Department. Although in retirement, his love for the music industry continued through music production with his company, Maverick Productions, in McAlpin, Florida.
Beyond his professional life, Gerold was a man of diverse interests. He found joy in hunting, fishing, racing his "HillBilly II" dragster and playing cards with his "coffee club boys." He was also proud to be a "brother by another mother" to his lifelong friend, Govan Knight.
Gerold was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby, and his beloved wife, Ruth Anne White. He is survived by his children: Audie White, Windell (Randi) White, Michael (Emma) White, Kenny (Lizbeth) Setser, Tana Letson, and Sharmon (Scott) Lenth. He also leaves behind his siblings, William (Lori) White, Richard (Wanda) White, John (Brenda) White, and Elizabeth (Paul) Halloran, as well as 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and another great-grandchild expected any day.
A celebration of Gerold's life will be held at the Wellborn Baptist Church in Wellborn, Florida, on Saturday, November 22nd. Visitation with friends and family at 10:00 a.m., Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. Donations to the Wellborn Baptist Church are preferred in lieu of flowers.
