John was preceded in death by his parents, Vernell and Angelo Mandese and John Tatem, Sr., as well as his sister, Rebecca Feagle.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, John spent most of his life in Florida, calling Miami, Hilliard, and Lake City home. At just 19, John began his career in the booming Miami construction industry as a crane operator. After 21 years, he transitioned into law enforcement, serving proudly as a Florida State Trooper until his retirement in 2001.
Those who knew John will remember his deep love for family and country. He was a proud American and an enthusiastic University of Miami football fan-always ready to cheer on the Hurricanes each season. He also had a lifelong passion for NASCAR, hung out with the Allison pit crew at Hialeah Speedway, met some of Nascar's new on the scene drivers and even took the wheel himself in Saturday night races. John loved to share his favorite stories with anyone willing to listen.
One of his greatest joys was yard work. Whether mowing, edging, trimming, or collecting leaves, he found peace and satisfaction in caring for his yard. John was a member of Parkview Baptist where he developed wonderful friendships in the later part of his life.
