AFTERGLOW
I'd Like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Janie Strickland, grandparents, Lee and Pearl Eller, Tommy and Myrtle Strickland, 6 uncles and aunts and many cousins.
Ricky leaves behind brother, Tommy Strickland of Conyers, GA., sister Debbie and Dennis Hicks of Lawrenceville, GA., brother, Buck Chris Strickland of Lake City, FL., a special niece Janie Halstead and her children Lindsey, Logan and Josh, Aunt Estelle and Uncle Jerry Murray of Cartersville, GA., and Aunt Loretta Entrekin of Tallapoosa, GA.
Ricky's wish was to have a private family ceremony at Sanibel Island, Florida.
Day by day we'll think of you. How can all of this be true? We can't believe you're really gone. We will always truly love you. We are and will forever be proud to call you "our big brother".

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of your beloved brother and uncle. Debbie, I can only imagine how difficult the last year has been for you and your family. I guess God gives us the strenght when we need it the most. Janie, it is so wonderful that you could be with your mom and uncle this past month. Although I never had the privilege of meeting this beautiful man, I know that you now have another heavenly light shining down upon you. My prayers and thought are with you.

Ricky I am blessed to have known you and will forever hold the gift of laughter you gave with the memories of some of the silly times we had. The feeling of the warm embrace of your friendly hugs that were ALWAYS freely given. And the big brother shoulder to cry on that was always there if you needed it. Your time here is done but your days of watching over those you love and care about are never done. You are just out of pain and suffering and forever in our hearts. GOD has called you for special reasons that we will never know, but we can all be thankful that you touched our lives. You made mine much more colorful and brought much laughter and great memories. What better legacy can anyone ask for. My Blessings and Heartfelt Sympathy to Buck and Ricky's surviving family members. I know his passing has left a huge hole in your hearts that no words can mend, I wish you all many blessings and love.

So very sorry for your loss. My heart is heavy with sorrow for ou and your family Debbie. Ricky fought a hard battle and unfortunetly he just couldn't fight any longer so he went to be with our Lord. He is in a better plaace even though he's not with his family you will all be together again as a family. Ricky just had to a little sooner than expected. For the past year, I watched you fight the good fight with bravery and courage. You no longer have to fight, struggle, or fear. Your precious, selfless sister and your brother fought right along your side literally hoping and praying for a miracle. Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the beginning to the inevitable goodbye. You could not have been loved more, and I know that you knew that. I am so grateful that I was able to spend some time with you during this past year. I thought about you daily and prayed you would experience peace during your epic battle. Talking with you and watching you during this time taught me more than ever before the importance of gratitude, and how essential it is to embrace life and focus on what matters the most. While you have departed from us here, you have been welcomed by others who were waiting for you and have received you with great joy. I'm sure you know how much you are loved and that you will be greatly missed.

I really love the memory of us at The Red Lobster for my 21st birthday. We had a lot of fun that day. I will miss your humor and laughter. I did not realize you could write funny stories and poems about family events. I wish I had that ability and talent. I'm thankful that GOD made it possible for us to spend the whole last month together. Even when you were too weak to speak loudly, you still managed to maintain your humor and make me laugh. Deeply sadden to learn of Ricky passing away, but rest in the knowledge that he no longer has any pain, any diseases, and is whole, well, and alive in the Kingdom of Heaven in the very presence of our Heavenly Father God Himself for all of eternity and rejoined with family that have passed on before and to be rejoined with the remaining family that remain in Heaven some great day. May God give the family peace knowing that Ricky is in the very Arms of God, that Ricky hurts no more, and that Ricky has no tears in his eyes, and may the Lord God give peace to all that grieve the loss of this brother, sojourner in life, and friend and fill the massive void that Ricky has left in the hearts of so many, Dear Lord God fill this void with Your Holy Spirit giving the peace that only You can.
