Sylvia Davis Obituary
A private family memorial service was held Friday, October 7, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home.
Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell Alabama.
Sylvia W. Davis, the fifth child of Rollie and Edna Dooley was born May 5, 1934 on a small farm east of Stoutsville. Shortly after her birth the family moved into Stoutsville where she attended school.
Sylvia and Louis V. Davis were married May 3, 1954 in Monroe City. As a military couple, they moved several times until they arrived at Columbus, Georgia in 1955 while Louis served in US Army at Fort Benning. They made Columbus their home until Louis passed April 11, 1996. Sylvia was a homemaker and raised six children and helped raise one grandson. Shortly before her 75th birthday in 2009, Sylvia moved to Minnesota where she made her home in Elbow Lake. Sylvia loved her family and friends, cooking and traveling.
Sylvia is survived by her children: Mary (Odell) Christenson of Wendell, MN, Barbara (Todd) Haines, Edna Davis, Irvin Davis all of Cataula, Georgia; Tina (Richard) Fields, Wendell, MN and Judy Davis of Elbow Lake, MN. Grandsons, Joseph (Laura) LaRue, Barry (Maria) Christenson; Granddaughters Lisa (Dave) Dybdal and Amanda (Walter) Kohler; Great Grandchildren Chloe and Skylar Sylvia LaRue, Devin and Shelby Dybdal, Hailey Kohler, Danny and Marissa Christenson. Her sister, Carol (Fletcher) Wiggins of Andalusia, Alabama; sister-in-laws Rosalie (Charlie) Whelan of Stoutsville, and Marilyn Dooley of Springfield. extended family member Cathy Klimeck of Columbus, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Rollie E. and Edna G. Dooley, her husband of 42 years, retired MSG Louis V. Davis; grandsons Michael L. Killingsworth and Michael T. Haines; brothers Beauford, Orville, Kenneth and Robert B. Dooley Sr.; her sister Louise Lipp.
