A Life of Creativity, Family, and Dedication.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Patrick Eckert age 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Ronald's life was a tapestry of artistic talent, devotion to family, and professional excellence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Early Life and Marriage.
Ronald was raised in the close-knit community of Addison Park, Illinois, where he developed a love for creativity and the arts from a young age. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Eckert, beginning a partnership filled with warmth, support, and shared dreams. Their union was a cornerstone of his life, providing comfort and happiness across 69 years.
Family.
Ronald and Elizabeth's family grew to include four cherished children: Mary Beth (Jay), Michael (Julie), Anne (Tom), and Erik (Anne). His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he found immense pride and joy in their achievements and lives. Ronald was also a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren, Alexandra, Madeline, Victoria, John Michael, Cassidy, Margaux, Evan, Carson and his legacy continued with the arrival of his great-grandchild, Gemma, each of whom brought him endless happiness.
Military Service.
In 1954 he was drafted to serve his country, Ronald joined the United States Army, where he combined his passion for art with service. He taught arts and crafts to fellow servicemen, sharing his talents and inspiring creativity, camaraderie, and healing through artistic expression.
Education and Artistic Talents.
Ronald's formal education was completed at the prestigious American Academy of Art and the Art Institute in Chicago, where he honed his skills in painting, drawing, and sculpting. His creative abilities were evident in every piece he touched, and he became known for his ability to bring ideas to life through his art. Ronald's imaginative spirit was a guiding force throughout his life.
Professional Career.
Ronald's career was marked by distinction and leadership. At Thomas A Schutz Company, he led a talented team of designers and modelmakers, creating innovative point-of-purchase displays that won numerous OMA "Outstanding Achievement Awards". His leadership and vision set a high standard in the industry, earning respect from colleagues and competitors alike. He was a principal at the company. At Schutz he was part of the Executive Committee.
Later in his career, Ronald joined his son Michael at Design Phase Inc., where he continued to shape the world of display design. He contributed to major programs for the Walt Disney Company, a role that allowed him to blend his professional expertise with his personal passion for Disney's iconic characters. Ronald was especially delighted with drawing and sculpting Mickey Mouse.
Ronald also received the highest honor in the POP Industry. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the POPAI Hall of Fame. This award was given to him in front of hundreds of people, at Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida, how perfect!
Legacy and Passions.
Ronald's legacy is one of creativity, kindness, and encouragement. He touched the lives of his family, friends, and coworkers with his generosity and artistic vision. He taught and mentored many young designers. Ron loved nature, sports cars, sailing, architecture, art, literature and football. He designed many of the houses he lived in with Elizabeth. His influence will continue to be felt in the hearts of those who knew him, and, in the creative works, he leaves behind.

Ronald Patrick Eckert's life was a celebration of art, family, and dedication. As we remember him, we honor a man who brought beauty into the world, nurtured those around him, and lived with integrity and love. May his memory inspire us to create, to cherish our loved ones, and to pursue our passions with the same grace and commitment that defined his remarkable life.
Church Service and Celebration of Life.
Church service will be held on October 4th 11:00 a.m. at St Andrews Church 714 E Walworth Ave Delavan WI. A "Celebration of Life" will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Big Foot Country Club 770 Shabbona Dr. Fontana WI.
