Bernita Dickerson Obituary
New Lexington - Bernita May Hammer Wood Dickerson, 101, of New Lexington, Ohio died Friday, April 30, 2021 at Scott's Place in Lancaster, Ohio. Born October 11, 1919 in Rose Farm, Ohio to the late Rolland J. and Myrtle E. Givens Hammer. Bernita was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union of New Lexington; President of Harvest Years Senior Citizens and sang in the Golden Aires and Silver Threads Survived by her children, Frank (Judy) Wood, Lonnie (Judy) Wood and Patty Wood (Larry) Sharp; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother, sister-in-law, Arlene Hammer. In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Wood; second husband, Dwight M. Dickerson; son, Jim Wood; grandson, Jimmy Wood; granddaughter, Natalie Pinkerton; brothers, Enos, Rolland and Donald Hammer and sisters, Josephine Jones and Patty Rodgers. Calling hours will be held from 11am-2pm with funeral service at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Grace Fellowship-Church of Christ in Christian Union, 700 Center Street, New Lexington, Ohio with Reverend John Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery. Special thanks to FairHoPe Hospice, her nurse, Heather and aides, Brenda, Makenzie, Rita, Mel and Kim.
