Bobbie Jones Obituary

Bobbie (Bob) Jones

Lancaster - Bobbie (Bob) L. Jones, 70 of Lancaster, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday April 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 15, 1950 to the late Woodrow and Lorraine (Mullins) Jones of Clay, West Virginia. Bob was a 1968 graduate of Clay County High School. He was a very proud Veteran and served in the Vietnam War, and was a member of the 101st Airborne of the United States Army. He worked 34 years at Lucent Technologies, and most recently retired from Akzo-Nobel Coatings. He was a very dedicated and loving Foster Parent to many children. He was generous and always put others first. Bob loved to hunt, fish, watch The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, and enjoyed vacationing, shopping, and eating out with his family and friends. He was especially proud of his children.

Bob was a current member and Elder of Highlands Community Church, former member of the Gloryland Church of the Nazarene, and the Lancaster First Church of the Nazarene. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years, Sunday School Superintendent, Nazarene Youth International President, and worked in the youth programs within the church. He loved singing Southern Gospel Music and being a part of the Gloryland Trio.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 43 years Kathy, children Mandy (Adam) Brannon of Urbana, Ohio, Emily (Becky) Jones, Joshua Jones, and William Jones, all of Lancaster, Ohio, and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Woody (Liz) Jones, of West Alexandria, Ohio, Fred (Etta) Jones of Lancaster, Ohio, and special nephews Scott Jones and Brian (Paula) Jones. He will be greatly missed by many close friends and his dog Sassy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Willard Jones, sister Karen (Jones) Pringle, sister Katherine Jones, special cousin Larry "Buzzie" Sanders, special aunt Mary (Jones) Sanders, and his very close friends Terry Peters, and Tom Stivison.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home in Amanda, Ohio with Pastor Mark Reese and Pastor Jack Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio. Friends and family may call Thursday 4-8 pm, and Friday 1 hour prior to the service.

A special thank you to his hospice nurse, Sherri, and aide Miranda. Your love and compassion got us through this difficult time.
