Byron Russell

CANAL WINCHESTER: Byron Russell, age 90, of Canal Winchester, passed peacefully November 19, 2015.

Born October 5, 1925 to the late Sidnay D. and Gladys K. (Andrews) Russell, he was an Ohio University graduate and an avid golfer. Byron was a Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific during WWII, as a radio operator. He worked for Columbus Southern Ohio Electric (AEP) for 27 years. Byron was a member of the Illuminating Electrical Society, the Family Motor Home Association and the Aladdin Shrine for over 50 years. He was very involved with Kiwanis, holding the position of District Governor.

Preceded in death by his first wife of 21 years, Betty J. Russell; Byron is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty A.; children, Greg (Barbara) Russell, Kent (Sheila) Russell, Douglas (Kim) Griswold, Gayle Russell; grandchildren, Aundrea Baker, Matthew Russell, Amy Chisler, Andrea Griswold; great-grandchildren, James Baker, Annie Marie Baker, Gage Woedl-Chisler; brother, Bob Russell; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit 4-7:00pm Monday, November 23, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, where a funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 24. Interment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
