Daniel Alspaugh Obituary

LANCASTER: Daniel Scott Alspaugh, 81 of Lancaster, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Pickering House. He was born in Canal Winchester on October 30, 1928 a son of the late Albert F. and Ethel (Scothorn) Alspaugh Sr. Daniel was a member of the First United Methodist Church and retired in 1990 from the South Central Power Company after more than 20 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Dona Jane Poling-Alspaugh; son, Scott Alspaugh; daughters, Jany Alspaugh (David A. Cooper) and Sandy (Tim) Holt; step son, Michael (Charyl) Poling; step daughter, Bonnie (Jim) Wright all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Stephanie Fannin, Shayne Tippett, Brandy, Kesley and Zach Alspaugh; step grandchildren, Lisa Black, Shanon Wright, Rachel Drum, Karrie Honchell, Amanda Kish, Jessie and Stacey Poling; seven great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Alspaugh and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Connie Alspaugh; second wife, Georgianna Alspaugh; and two brothers, Albert F. Alspaugh Jr. and Ronnie (Ginger) Alspaugh.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pickering House, First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice in his memory.
