Harold Wallace Obituary

Harold J. "Wally" Wallace

LANCASTER: Harold J. "Wally" Wallace, 79 of Lancaster passed away on Monday May 12, 2014 at the Pickering House. He was born on May 1, 1935 in Lancaster to the late Francis and Mabel (Gray) Wallace.

Wally graduated from St. Mary School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army. Wally was a retired correctional officer for B.I.S., F.S.B. and S.C.I. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council 1016, Past Faithful Navigator 4th Degree Bishop Fenwick Assembly, and the Elks Lodge. Wally's greatest Joy in Life was his nieces and nephews especially his great- great-nieces and nephews.

Wally is survived by his wife of 42 ½ years Sarah P. (DeVore) Wallace; son Mike (Jeannie) Kline; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; 13 nieces and nephews and spouses; 31 great-nieces and nephews and spouses; 44 great-great-nieces and nephews; special cousins from Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by parents; brother James (Louise) Wallace and brother Gerald Wallace; nephew John Wallace, great-nephew Jamie O'Rourke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30AM Friday May 16, 2014 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church with Fr. Craig Eilerman as celebrant. Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday May 15 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Sheridan Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:30PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pickering House in Wally's memory.
