Norman Bahnsen Obituary

Norman W. Bahnsen

LANCASTER: Norman W. Bahnsen, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his residence with loved ones by his side. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 18, 1923 to the late August and Leona (Entsminger) Bahnsen.

Norm served in the United States Army during WW II, stationed in North Africa. The Bahnsens moved to Lancaster in 1964, where Norm worked until his retirement at Hexcel Corporation. Norm was an avid fisherman, hunter and model railroader. He and Anne enjoyed traveling throughout North America and Italy visiting their children, grandchildren and friends.

Norm is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne M. (Mazzolini) Bahnsen; sons, James (Jay) Bahnsen of Lancaster, Richard (Holly) Bahnsen of Grayslake, IL, and Thomas (Dena )Bahnsen of Dover, DE; daughter, Christine (Rob) Royal of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Allison (Jeremy) Bolinger of Houston, TX, Bradley (Courtney) Bahnsen of Gainesville, FL, Brooke Bahnsen of Libertyville, IL, Marc Bahnsen of Chicago, IL, Emily (Julie Barenholtz) Bahnsen of Boston, MA, Margaret Bahnsen of Tampa, FL, Josiah and Gemma Royal of St. Catharines.

In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his sister, Corinne Vernick, in-laws Nonno and Nonna Mazzolini, sister in-law and brother-in-law Jean (Mazzolini) and John Soyland.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 PM at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME with Norm's nephew, Pastor Roger Vernick officiating. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Norm to Fairfield County Historical Parks, 407 E. Main St. Lancaster, OH 43130.

The Bahnsen family wishes to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at Primrose Retirement Community and Stephanie of Fair Hope Hospice for their loving care of Norm.

I worked with Norm at Hexcel for a few years. He was so much fun and always good for a laugh. His kindness to me will never be forgotten. Most importantly he loved his family and pets passionately.
