Dana Dreinhofer Obituary
Dana Lynn Dreinhofer 1938- Dana Lynn Dreinhofer died peacefully November 8, 2024 in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Dana was born in 1938 in Ranger, TX, to William Charles and Frances Pauline Owen Dreinhofer. In 1943, her father began a 31-year career with Tenneco Gas Company. The family lived in several Texas locations, as well as Tennessee and Mississippi. Dana found her home in Laramie in 1966 when her husband James Boucher was discharged from the military and started his optometry practice in the perfect town to raise their 3 children Keller, James, and Joel Boucher.
Dana served as public relations director for the Wyoming Optometric Association in the 1970s and began graduate work at the University of Wyoming, completing a master's in journalism in 1980. In 1978, she became publications editor at UW and was named manager of Publications Service, University Public Relations, in 1996, a position she held until retirement in July 2004. Dana was president of the Wyoming Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists 1979-80, receiving a distinguished service award for "exceptional contributions to Wyoming journalism."
She enjoyed her Laramie volunteer service which included Friends of Community Recreation; Parks, Tree and Recreation Advisory Board; UW/State Retirees Board, and Albany County Democratic Party.
In 2009, Dana moved to Austin to explore a large city and enjoy time with her Texas relatives. She continued her community involvement in Austin and served as President of the Mira Monte HOA for two consecutive terms.
Dana is survived and missed by her three children, their spouses, and five grandchildren: Keller Ruan Boucher, Jackson Heights, NY; Joel David Boucher and Wendy King, Laramie; James Owen Boucher and Karen Cribari, Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren Falcon Boucher, Jonathan King, and Nicole King, Laramie; Charles Boucher and Carmino Boucher, Santa Fe. Her sister, Susan D. Adams, brother-in-law, Gene Adams, and niece Savanna Adams Maddox and her children, Ezra and Oskar, who live in Austin. As well as numerous cousins who live in Texas, Michigan, and New York City.
She enjoyed life and will be missed by many.
