Jessie Romero Obituary
She was born on July 6, 1922, in Chacon to her parents Melqueres Duran and Carmelita Benavidez.
A Catholic, she attended St Gertrude Church in Mora. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, auntie and friend. She loved to crochet, sew and was a member of the Legion of Mary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melqueres and Carmelita Duran; husband, Jose E. Romero; granddaughters, Anna Marie Sifuntes and Robin Thurman; and great- granddaughter, Kenya Padilla.
She is survived by her daughters, Berna Romero of Greeley, Colo., Joan Madrigal (Lorenzo) of Ulysses, Kansas, Carmen Romero, Mary Ida Padilla and friend, Larry, Gloria Thurman (Paul), all of Las Vegas, Darlene Romero and friend, Ernie, of Mora, and Nancy Romero of Ohio; sons, Joseph Romero (Connie) of Chacon; daughter, Mary Jo Vigil (Charlie) of Las Vegas; numerous: grandchildren, great–grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends of the family.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday also at St. Gertrude Church with Father Dennis Dolter SOLT as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the Chacon Cemetery in Chacon with the following as casket bearers: Leroy Romero, Angel Sifuentes, Donny Padilla, Mario Olivas, Joe Romero Jr., Lewis Padilla, Jose Lucero, Diego Vigil and Clinton Eldridge. Honorary bearers are all her remaining grandchildren.
