Alexis Doose Obituary

Alexis Reichert Doose passed away peacefully at home in Pacific Palisades, CA, on March 30th, 2014 after a long battle with lymphoma. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Reichert and a 1961 graduate of Black River Falls, Wisconsin High School. She was a 1965 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she was elected to Sigma Epsilon Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. Alexis received a Masters Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from Loyola University Law School in Los Angeles. Alexis worked as a speech pathologist in the L.A. County school system and later as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County. For many years she assisted her husband, Jon W. Doose, M.D.d, with his internal medicine practice in Pacific Palisades, CA. Alexis was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, her daughter Jan A. Doenier, M.D., of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and three grandchildren; Emma, Jonathana and Kaye Doenier, also of Waukesha. She also leaves her twin brother, Dr. John R. Reichert (Janice) of Amery, Wisconsin, and three nieces, Robin, Jennifer, and Evelyn Reichert. Alexis was a brilliant student and a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service in Wisconsin, near family, is planned.

Lex was a dear friend, our daughters shared a love of horses and our husbands Dr Jon Doose and Bill Enger supported them in their efforts. As a couple we shared many wonderful evenings together at Anna's Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Both of them were the most kind, intelligent empathetic friends one could hope for. We lost track when we moved to Idaho and missed them so much. It was with great sadness we learned of Lex's passing, we had no idea she was so ill. My heartfelt condolences to all who loved her.

I had the good fortune to work with Alexis in the District Attorney's Office in the 1980's. She was an excellent colleague and friend: intelligent, personable and effective. My sympathies to her family for their tragic loss.

I was not aware of her medical situation. I am so sorry that she is no longer with her family. She was a fun classmate, a good person, and I am sad that I will not see her again at the BRF class reunions. My sympathies to the family.
