Allan Espiritu Obituary

Espiritu, Allan Mark Cundangan (28) died on Tuesday, Nov. 1st while serving his country in Iraq. Allan was born April 24, 1977 in Metro Manila, Philippines, the eldest of three sons. The family moved to California in 1981. Allan graduated from Channel Island High School in 1995.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February 1997. Over the next eight years of service he was not only a medic in the hospital corps, but deeply embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps serving as a fleet Marine Force Corpsman. Not only was he a scout sniper and a master parachute jumper, but he also received specialized Marine training for mountain warfare, assault climber, jungle warfare, Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE), military operations and urban training as well as close-quarters battle training. During his second tour of duty in Iraq, he served with the highly specialized EOD (Explosive Ordinance Device) Team in which he volunteered to serve. Allan's greatest joy, when not serving his country, was spending time with his wife and three daughters as a husband and father. Allan is survived by his wife, Erika; his daughters, Alissa, Melanie and Alexy; his parents, Alvin Espiritu and Evelyn Cundangan; his brothers, Neil Ryan Espiritu and Jeremy Ross Espiritu. A time of visitation with viewing will take place at Pierce Brothers Griffin Memorial Chapel in Camarillo on Tuesday, November 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a special time of sharing remembrances at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be on Wednesday, November 9th, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Graveside services with full military honors will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10th, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary, 1075 E. Daily Drive, Camarillo (805) 482-2711.

Knowing someone that I've personally worked with during my tenure at PHNACC makes this lost difficult to comprehend. My memory of HM2 Espiritu as the inspiring leading petty officer of Primary Care Clinic will forever be etched in my mind. We'll move on but the sacrifices that he and other sailors, soldiers, marines, and airmen should not be forgotten.

Allan sacrificed himself for his country and I will thank him everyday for what he has done. Celebrate the life he lived!

I wish you only the best and hope that your family along with mine can build from our losses. These were proud men, they were proud of the jobs they were doing...and we need to THANK them for that every day!

Our deepest condolences to the Espiritu Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I never met Allan, but writing this message is hard enough for me since I never met him. I gave him 100% credit for fighting for our country and died so young, and he was a big lost to all of us especially to his children, whom they will all grow up, not having a father there, but I am sure they will all be proud of him and understand because he died for what he belief was good for him and the country he loved so much. To go in into military life he knew what he would be facing, but probably not to die so young. Now he is with the Lord and we all be 'proud' of him. I have some 'Espiritu' family friends but I don't know if this was one of their sons.

Our deepest condolences go out to the entire family. I've known Allan and his family since we moved to Hueneme in November 1999. They were a great help and good neighbors when my husband was deployed with the Seabees. He did my yard when I was out of town and his ex-wife and the kids would go and check my mail everyday. Living overseas, we eat, breathe and sleep military life. All the commercials on the tv and radio are about the military. Allan was dedicated to his career. Please don't be mad at the government or Pres. Bush for having the troops there. Remember, Allan went there by choice and he did what he believed in and he did it for all of us. He paid the "Ultimate Sacrifice". He was a good man in many respects and our hearts go out to all those he left behind. I was just watching a tv show with a military burial and I couldn't help but cry in remembrance of him. Alissa & Melanie, remember that your dad loves you. Make him proud because even if he's not there physically, he's still watching over you as if he still was. You may not understand everything that is happening or even why, but you will in time. Just take good care of your mom for me and be good girls. Lexy & Erika, I don't know you and you don't know me, but I wish you the best in life. He was a great guy. To Auntie Evelyn, Uncle Alvin, Neil, Jeremy and Melissa; you were his strongest supporters. You are a great family, always there for one another. You have suffered a great loss in your family and I know how much he meant to all of you. He touched many lives while he was alive. No words can heal your pain and grief. Just remember to seek the Lord in these times of sorrow. Wishing you all the best. The Pallasigui Family (Norman, Roanne, Cody & Kelleryn)
