Allan Frankel Obituary

January 9, 1951 - October 7, 2021 Dr. Allan Israel Frankel passed away October 7, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, after a two-year battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his children, Josh (Amy), Aaron (Carrie) and Shira (Andy); eight grandchildren, sister Estelle (Steve); niece Miriam and nephew Elon (Katie); and his dear friend Larry (Trish). Born in 1951 in New York to Holocaust survivors, Allan spent most of his childhood in Northern California before attending UCLA for undergraduate and medical school. He finished second in his class at UCLA School of Medicine and worked for two decades as a private practice internal medicine doctor. In the early 2000s, he transitioned his career to focus on cannabis medicine. As the Founder and CEO of Greenbridge Medical, he became one of the world's leading authorities on cannabis dosing. Allan traveled the world to see patients and consult with other cannabis experts. Allan had a tremendous passion for medicine and will be remembered as a highly-skilled and empathetic physician. He was also an innovator helping develop two medical software programs - Chartscape and eScript.Allan could always be counted on for a joke and making people laugh. His patients would often comment about how his sense of humor made them feel at ease despite uncomfortable health conditions. His sarcasm and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Donations in his memory can be made to the Palliative Care Program at St. Johns. Please visit https://saintjohnsfoundation.org. Click "Make a Donation". Under "designation" choose "other" and list the Palliative Care Program. With "tribute" type Allan Frankel. My deepest heartfelt condolences to Dr. Frankel's family & Alex.
I know the heartbreak and sorrow of loosing a loved one, so young. Dr. Frankel was an amazing man who educated my late husband on the benefits of his treatments for his cancer. Our initial consult was via Zoom & within no time we were in his office in Los Angeles enjoying his humor, laughter & lightheartness. His recommended treatments provided great comfort during the most painful years of my late husband's life.
I will be forever grateful for his knowledge and the loving concern he brought to us at a time of great need. He gave my late husband hope, was a kind, caring, compassionate and knowledgable man. His motto "Do No Harm"! A rare find in a doctor today. May his family find peace and comfort knowing his unending commitment helped so many patients. May he Rest In Peace.

I thought of Dr Frankel today and learned of his passing.
He was a healer: kind, smart, non judgmental and warm. He knew how to make you feel as if you were in his living room but was the ultimate professional. This is a huge loss in the community and I'm so saddened to hear about his early death.
Warm regards and condolences to friends and family

Unfortunately, I just learned of Allan's passing. I knew him as a resident at UCLA, and later became a patient of his internal medicine practice for many years. Allan helped me through a very difficult medical challenge in the late 1990's. I will always be grateful to him for his assistance, his initiative to research items for me, and our partnership in fighting my challenge. In addition, I loved his humor and his "realness". RIP Allan.

Heartfelt condolences to Dr. Frankel's family. I know the heartbreak and sorrow of loosing a loved one, especially, too soon. Dr. Frankel enlightened and educated us as to the benefits of CBD and THC during my husband's cancer journey and the comfort it provided during the most painful months of my husband's life. I will be forever grateful for his knowledge and concern he brought to us and many that seek this option of care. May he Rest In Peace.

I knew Allan since we were both 15 in Camp Ramah when he first met Barbara. We built cars together (including one infamous visit to Tijuana for tuck and roll) to help handle the stresses of medical training. We both ended up in practice in Santa Monica where he was a wonderful colleague. Allan was funny, warm, gregarious, brilliant, and creative. In later life he grappled with several personal issues, but never lost his joy of living. I loved him, and I'll miss him.

Allan was a very important person in my life. He was a great mentor and friend. Thirty six years ago (Barbie was pregnant with Shira :) he brought me into his medical practice and helped me create my career in medicine. In addition, his guidance gave me the ability to build and own the amazing house that I raised my family in and still happily live in almost 30 years later. It is for these and many other things that I will always be grateful to Allan and will always remember him. The Biscow family sends our love and condolences to Josh, Aaron, and Shira and the entire family.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of the great Dr. Frankel. A stand up man he was. A man who fought for those who were sick. A man who fought for what was right. Anyone who knew him can tell you of his gifted ways to make those who were lost and confused feel a little better, smile and laugh, all while reassuring them that things will be ok. He could help. Dr. Frankel assured me that while I was going through tough medical treatments and decisions in my life that he could work with me. He would treat me with CBD and together we found the best possible treatments and a whole new life for me. I wouldn't be where I am today if it were not for Dr. Frankel. Rest in peace my friend. Thank you for being the thoughtful, empathetic, standup man you were.

I had two consults with him and in addition to being so wise he was warm, friendly and easy to laugh. I always hoped to tap into his wealth of knowledge and experience again. He will be greatly missed. The world is a little less bright without his presence.

I am so sorry to learn of Dr. Frankel's passing. He was a gifted clinician who really understood the unique needs of his patients, and respected both those who could benefit from the psychoactive effects of cannabis and those who absolutely could not tolerate them. I had the honor of consulting with him on one very challenging cases, and benefited greatly from his wisdom and experience. He was also a dedicated activist for patient rights who was not afraid to speak truth to power and who refused to be intimidated. My deepest sympathy to his family and colleagues.

This saddens me very much. Two years ago my husband had a consult with Dr. Frankel for his liver cancer. Unfortunately he passed within the next 2 weeks so we never had a chance to see Dr. Frankel again. But we felt so fortunate to have seen him that first time, he spent extra time with us and was so caring, we felt we were in good hands. RIP Dr. Frankel, you helped so many people over the years. Condolences to his family.
