Ann Casserly Obituary

Casserly, Ann Sullivan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend died December 22, 2004 in Santa Barbara. Ann was born and raised in Fall River, MA, and graduated from Regis College as an Occupational Therapist. After marrying in 1944, Ann and her husband of 51 years, George B. Casserly, MD, moved to San Pedro, where George practiced ophthalmology and Ann settled in to a very contented life as wife and mother. To daughters Jane (San Pedro) and Evan (Santa Barbara) and all their friends, Ann was confidant, mentor and head cheerleader. To her grandchildren, Scott, Annie, Jennifer and Katie, she was the perfect Nana, always ready for a new adventure, always ready to answer life's big questions. She is also survived by her devoted sons-in-law, Peter Kimball and Steve McCabe. Ann and George were lay Maryknoll Missioners in Central America, trekking by horseback over rural mountains to perform eye surgeries. She will always be remembered for her loving kindness, generosity, quick Irish wit and utter devotion to family. Services will be Saturday, January 8 at 2:30 pm at Fort McArthur Chapel, Pacific Avenue at 30th Street, San Pedro. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Maryknoll, PO Box 307, Maryknoll, New York, 10545-0307.
