Anna Broadfield Obituary

February 2, 1923 - September 4, 2023 Anna Lee Broadfield passed away peacefully at home on September 4th, at the age of 100. The daughter of Albert and Minnie Prempert, Anna Lee was born in Cumberland Md., and raised in Akron, Ohio, along with her older sister Marilyn, who predeceased her in 2008. In the early 1940's Anna Lee completed nurses training, then felt a calling to serve her country during WWII. She joined the Navy, where she worked in the Naval Hospital in NY city. After the war, she married Robert Evans and settled in Wash. DC, working for the State Dept. There, she gave birth to her son, Bobby. Anna Lee later settled in Los Angeles in the early 1950's where her daughter Carol Lee was born. Anna Lee worked for many years as a secretary for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, and after her divorce, single-handedly raised her children for 12 years, until she married her 2nd husband, John "Jack" Broadfield. They enjoyed a full social life together and remained quite active, dancing, swimming, playing tennis and traveling, until Jack's battle with cancer, which she fiercely fought with him until the very end. She faced a life of numerous challenges but through her resilience and positivity, always bounced back. She loved working as a movie extra in her later years, and took care of her cherished grandchildren, Christina and Kevin. She was forever a staunch FDR Democrat, a generous supporter of numerous charitable organizations, and was loved by all for her youthful exuberance, sense of humor, smile, and that twinkle in her eyes. She had a special love and soul connection with the beloved family dog, "Mali", who joined her in eternity two days after her passing. Mom ("Grannie Lee"), never ceased to amaze us. At 100, she even had a valid driver's license...and used it! Anna Lee filled our lives with laughter, lively conversation, and love, and will forever be in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her son Bobby, and her husband Jack. She leaves behind her daughter Carol, son-in-law Allan, granddaughter Christina, and Grandson Kevin.
