Anna Dankanyin Obituary

DANKANYIN, Anna Born April 14, 1913 in Rostraner, PA to Jan Kolesar and Anna Chulik, both from Austria, passed away peacefully October 27, 2007, in Los Angeles. She was separated from her brother Michael Kolesar and sister Marie Kolesar Cheza (deceased), when the great flu epidemic of the 1920's took both her parents leaving them to be raised by different godparents. She married John Dankanyin (deceased Nov. 06, 1999) in 1934. She and John spent their working years in Sharon, PA, employed by Westinghouse Corporation. They had two children, Evelyn Ann Dankanyin (deceased March 22, 2007) and Robert (Charlene) Dankanyin currently residing in Malibu, CA. In the late 1940's Ann and John built a home in Hickory, PA, where their children graduated from high school. On retirement they moved to El Segundo, CA to be near their children and three grandchildren, who were born to Robert and Dorothy Kuchel Dankanyin (divorced): Douglas John now living in Hawaii, David Jay (deceased December 30, 2005), and Dana Dankanyin Leatherwood now living in Texas. Anna is the great-grandmother of four: Theodore and William Dankanyin, sons of David, and Tessa and Corrie Leatherwood. Anna was a member of St. Andrews Russian Greek Catholic Church in El Segundo. She was a very strong and courageous woman, who witnessed many changes in the world in her 94 years. She will be sorely missed by all. May she rest in peace. Services Tuesday, November 6th, at 1:00 p.m., Holy Cross Mortuary Chapel, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City. Celebration of life to follow at the Radisson Hotel in Culver City. All friends are welcome. Holy Cross Mortuary Directors (310) 836-5500
