Sister Anne Estelle McGurl C.S.J.

March 26, 1931 - July 14, 2023 Sister Anne Estelle McGurl, C.S.J. age 92, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the St. John of God Retirement Center in Los Angeles, CA. She was born March 26, 1931 in Boston Massachusetts and was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since March 19, 1950. As a child, Sister Anne Estelle took Elocution lessons, where she read and memorized poems. Over the years, she delighted many with her dramatic presentation imitating children at their elocution recital. As a teen she moved with her family to San Francisco. Sister Anne Estelle's missions in California included elementary teacher, principal, parish director of Religious Ed, director of RCIA and regional leadership. Blessed with an even disposition, a friendly manner and a great sense of humor, Sister Anne Estelle was truly a minister of gentleness, peace and joy. She is survived by her cousins Mary Geraldina Messna, Paul Callahan, Denis Ring, Terry Ring, Berry Ring and Deidra Ring. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Zoom, on Tuesday August 29, 2023. A link will be available by contacting SMNinteman@csjla.org. Funeral Liturgy in the St. Joseph's Chapel, Carondelet Center, on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 10:00 am. This Liturgy will be live streamed. Information will be available closer to the date. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Patrick's section. All in-person attendees to the services at Carondelet Center will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination record.
