January 30, 1936 - January 3, 2023 Antranik "Andy" Sinanian, born on January 30, 1936 in Alexandretta, currently known as Iskenderun, was the first child of Hagop and Azaduhi Sinanian. In 1937, the family was forced to move to Aleppo due to the surrender of Alexandretta to Turkey. Antranik attended Guiligian Elementary School and then Aleppo College. In 1954, he enrolled in the School of Engineering at the American University of Beirut. Thereafter, he continued his higher education in Germany, graduating with a master's degree in civil engineering in 1963 from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
After returning to Lebanon, Antranik founded his own engineering firm and successfully designed and developed numerous multi-story buildings. He was soon recruited by the Municipality of Beirut, where he quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to the position of Director of the City of Beirut Traffic Department. His expertise in the field made him a highly sought-after traffic consultant throughout the Middle East.
In 1970, he married Arpie Beylerian and they had two children, Taline and Gerard. Their 53-year marriage was marked by an unwavering love for one another. They were deeply committed to their children, and always strived to give them the best life possible. The Lebanese civil war prompted Antranik, Arpie, and their children to move to California in 1980. Upon settling in Los Angeles, Antranik and his brothers founded Sinanian Development Incorporated, a well-respected and trusted construction and development company. Over the next forty years the company completed a wide range of private and public projects that have left a lasting and positive impact on the community.
Antranik was deeply proud of his Armenian heritage and was dedicated to supporting and serving the Armenian community at large. He served as a board member at Holy Martyrs Armenian Church and Ferrahian School in the 1980s, and continued to actively support various Armenian organizations throughout his life.
Antranik and Arpie remained dedicated to their children as they started their own families with Serge Arslanian and Sandy Yenikomshian. They were blessed with five grandchildren: Sabine, Nicole, Marc, Mia and Max. Antranik's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and he always took pride in their accomplishments. His legacy and values will continue through their success.
