Kiewit, Barbara C.
Long-time resident of Malibu, CA, of natural causes, on September 5. She was 82. A graduate of Santa Monica High School, she married John C. Blacker in 1943, by whom she had two children, a daughter, Barbara R. Monell, of Glendora, CA, and a son, Coit D. Blacker, of Palo Alto, CA. She was widowed in 1965. In 1967 she married James R. Kiewit, who was with her when she died. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her sister, Monica R. Brown; her son-in-law, Joseph A. Monell; her son's long-time partner, Louis E. Olave, Jr.; three grandchildren, Michael Monell of Upland, CA, Monica Schuler, also of Upland, and Mark Monell, of Seattle, WA; and five great-grandchildren, Brett and Meagan Schuler, Coit and Reid Monell, and Paige Monell. She also leaves three step-children, Kristine Ragland, Daniel Kiewit, and Steven Kiewit, three nieces and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to the American Heart Association.
