Barbara MacAdam Obituary

MacAdam, Barbara Ann (Bates)
Our beloved Barbara Ann MacAdam, 75, of San Clemente, passed away May 26,2005, of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Barbara, affectionately called "Tutu" by her grandchildren, is the sister of Pat (Marshall) Hansen, Buffalo, Wyoming; mother to Pat (Larry) Heet, Haleiwa, Hawaii, Jeanne (Dan) Yeilding, San Clemente, Leigh (Jim) O'Brien, San Clemente; grandmother to Erika (Jason) Fitzmaurice, Brett and Steven Heet, Dan, Robert and Scotty Yeilding, and Kyle and Marty O'Brien; great grandmother to Briton and Oona Fitzmaurice. Loving wife to her husband of 49 years, Alan MacAdam, whom she met while attending college in Santa Barbara and who preceded her in death. Barbara was born and raised in Los Angeles, where she attended Dorsey High School. As a young woman, Barbara liked modeling, music, photography and drama. Barbara had lived in San Clemente and Rancho Carrillo since 1961. She and her husband shared some 35 years together on their ranch, where they kept horses, tended the grounds and hosted family parties. She retired in 1995 as a Vice President and Manager for Bank of America after 25 years in the San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano branches. Barbara had many interests and hobbies, and in recent years enjoyed traveling with friends, helping at Century 21 OMA San Clemente, knitting, cooking, decorating, volunteering, and for many years, art appreciation. She was a devoted UCLA football, basketball, and water polo fan. Among her incredible accomplishments in life was a sometimes challenging rise through the ranks of Bank of America to her respected and well-earned post as Vice President. Her talents included a penchant for games, which she loved to play with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Known as "Aunt Parcheesi" to her nephews, she taught several generations the subtleties of poker, gin rummy, Scrabble and other games. Her travels in life took her as far away as Peru, Panama, China and Mexico, and in recent years she ventured to culinary excursions in France and Italy. A true individual who lived every moment well, she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Services private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's name would be greatly appreciated to the following organizations: The American Cancer Society, any Hospice organization, Boys and Girls Club of South Coast (1304 Calle Valle, San Clemente, CA 92672), and Casa Romantica (415 Ave. Granada, San Clemente, CA 92672).
