In Loving Memory of Cassandra Jacqueline Bledsoe
January 15, 1971 – January 28, 2026
A Life Remembered
With broken hearts and enduring love, we honor the life of Cassandra Jacqueline Bledsoe, who passed away suddenly in
Baytown, Texas, on January 28, 2026, at the age of 55. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void-an unfinished life that nonetheless accomplished so much. Cassandra lived with purpose, resilience, and devotion, and her legacy will endure for generations.
Her Roots and Heritage
Cassandra was born in the Century Heights neighborhood of
Inglewood, California, and raised in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw community-an environment rich in culture, faith, and family pride. She was baptized at Faith Presbyterian Church and later active in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Her early education included St. Bernadette Catholic School and Audubon Junior High School.
She graduated from Susan Miller Dorsey High School, where she was a vibrant member of the Varsity Marching Dance Team. A formative experience of her youth was traveling to London, England with her mother-an opportunity that reflected the intentional, enriching upbringing her family provided.
Her family lovingly described Cassandra as "Black royalty" of Los Angeles-not as a title, but as truth. She carried her heritage with dignity and grace, and she was beloved by people across the country, from California to Texas, Maryland, Arizona, and beyond.
Education and Academic Achievement
Cassandra's belief in education was lifelong and deeply personal. She earned:
Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas
Master of Education Concordia University Texas, Austin, Texas
Master of Arts in Educational Diagnostics University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas
Professional Principal Preparation Program Certificate Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas
Each milestone reflected her determination to better serve students, families, and communities.
A Calling to Serve: Educator and Advocate
Special Education was Cassandra's calling. She devoted her career to children who needed advocacy, patience, and unwavering belief. She served students across many districts, including Decatur ISD (Georgia), and in Texas: Port Arthur ISD, Houston ISD, Beaumont ISD, Fort Bend ISD, West Orange–Cove CISD, Austin ISD, Stafford ISD, and Goose Creek CISD.
She taught in numerous settings-Resource and Inclusion, Life Skills, Adaptive Behavior Unit, Behavior, and elementary grade levels-always with the same mission: to protect student dignity and help children succeed.
Even during a brief break from the classroom, Cassandra continued her service through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, answering calls related to suspected child abuse and neglect. Her heart, however, always led her back to teaching.
A Devoted Girl Scout Leader and Mother
Beyond the classroom, Cassandra poured her heart into shaping young lives through Girl Scouts, where she served as a devoted Girl Scout Leader in both Austin and Houston, Texas, throughout her daughters' elementary, middle, and high school years.
She proudly watched her daughters grow from Brownies to Ambassadors, guiding them with patience, encouragement, and pride every step of the way. Cassandra believed deeply in what
Girl Scouts stands for-leadership, service, courage, sisterhood, and integrity-and she lived those values daily. She was immensely proud of her daughters and the young women they became, and she treasured the experiences, friendships, and lessons that Girl Scouts provided.
Family: Her Greatest Joy
Cassandra's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Alexsandria Jacquelyn Bledsoe (34) and Savannah Jacklyn Anderson-Bledsoe (32); her grandchildren Jacqueline, Joseph, Josephine, and Amari; her brothers Douglas Bledsoe and James Montgomery Bledsoe; and her beloved nieces and nephews Logan, James Jr., Sierra, Cheyenne, and Beau.
She also leaves behind her loyal companion, Bear, who remained by her side.
"This Too Shall Pass"
Cassandra lived by the words "This too shall pass," wisdom passed down from her mother. She was a survivor-resilient beyond measure. She carried pain quietly, showed up faithfully, and gave her best even when it cost her greatly.
She went to work sick. She went to work rain or shine. She kept her promises. She kept showing up-for her students, her coworkers, her daughters, her grandchildren, and her family. Though her life ended too soon, the way she lived was complete.
