Barbara Sternberg Obituary

June 16, 1943 - November 17, 2024 The loving wife of Dr. Richard Sternberg, Barbara was a fighter to the last, enduring a series of chronic ailments with strength and resilience. Her keen mind and wonderful wit never faltered., nor did her sensitivity and empathy for others. These qualities combined with her communication skills and exceptional patience contributed to the success she had first as a speech pathologist working with brain-injured adults and later as an interior designer. Admired and loved by friends and family, Barbara's memory will be cherished always.

Barbara was blessed with a fine and discerning mind. She used these attributes in her creative work as an interior designer and in her early work as a speech-language pathologist. Her design work exemplified a creative style that was sophisticated and elegant. When I would visit her we would walk the West Hollywood Design District. When we´d leave a store we´d ask ourselves, "How much money did we spend?", and laugh. On the way home we would stop and feed her flock of "free range" chickens at a Pacific Palisades green space. Barbara was the best tour guide, and loved talking about the areas of LA from Malibu to Los Felix and beyond. She would comment on the architecture, Hollywood personalities, and the drama that existed in early Hollywoodland through Hollywood´s Golden Age. I was always proud of my first generation first cousin. She was warmly loved and will be missed.
