Bert Schneider Obituary

SCHNEIDER , Bert "Babe"
Born in Los Angeles on September 25, 1926. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnne, daughters Nancy and Leslee, sons Andy and Dennis, and seven grandchildren.
In 1942 and 1943, Los Angeles High School football star Babe Schneider was a City of Los Angeles All City Halfback. In 1943, he was also City of Los Angeles High School Football "Player of the Year". During the 1943 season, Babe registered 77 points to lead all scorers in the Los Angeles City League. He tallied 12 touchdowns and made four extra points. Just two months after his high school graduation, Babe enlisted in the US Navy, Where he served through the end of WWII. Babe played the 1946 season with the UCLA Bruins, including the 1947 Rose Bowl. Babe was also an outstanding high school track star and high school/college baseball player, at one time invited to try out with the New York Yankees. In later years, Coach Schneider was a key element in the development of Encino Little League.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be held at Mt. Sinai - Hollywood Hills, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8th, (800) 600-0076.
