Blonda Yount Obituary

Yount, Blonda Bushman
(1912-2004) Our amazing and beautiful Aunt Blonda passed away peacefully in sleep, 13 days after her 92nd birthday during the early morning hours of May 22, 2004. As she desired she was at home in Monarch Bay, California. Her husband, Harold Arthur (Jack) Yount preceded her in death on June 29, 1980. Born and raised in Joseph City, a small northern Arizona farming community settled by Mormon pioneers, she was one of seven girls born to John Lehi and Etna Novella Bushman. She graduated from Arizona State University, majoring in home economics, teaching in her field before marriage and occasionally after. Following marriage she was deeply involved in supporting her husband's brilliant career in construction. They built freeways, bridges, dams, and other major projects including Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Eventually they settled in Covina, also spending much time in their home on the El Dorado Golf Course in the Palm Desert. Later they moved their primary residence to Laguna Niguel, now Monarch Bay. Blonda enjoyed and worked diligently perfecting her many talents, including music, writing, and art. Her homes were filled with her own paintings, reflecting her love of beauty, flowers, and California landscapes. To the end she made her own Christmas cards. An avid and accomplished golfer, she participated in tournaments and won more than her share in friendly competition. Although Blonda was not blessed with children of her own, her nieces, nephews, and countless friends from all walks of life adored her. She and her husband were always mindful of the needs of others. They have left their estate in a charitable trust that will bless the lives of thousands of college age young adults around the world. She enjoyed and returned the love of a great man, whose greatness reflected the influence of her brilliance, loyal support, and working partnership. All of her sisters, Gwendoline Rogers, Maud, Gladys Carmack, Helen, Anna Barner, and Bessie Smith preceded her in death. She has been a greatly admired model to her nieces and nephews. An active participant in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, ward and stake members and leaders of the Church Educational System admired, loved, and respected her. She was there for many, and had deep faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ. Death held no terror for this great and noble woman of faith. Church and community friends together with neighbors and family will miss her unique personality, wit, charm, and counsel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Laguna Beach Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 685 Park Avenue. Laguna Beach, CA 92651. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Perpetual Education Fund; 50 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150.

Hello, My most sincere regrets at the passing of your most cherished loved one. I am currently conducting an estate sale in Sequim Washinton for a lovely lady ( who is actually moving into assisted living ). She purchased 3 of your Mothers paintings and treasures them, but is selling them, along with so many other items of hers. ( Her husband passed 6 years ago.) I went on line to price her paintings and came upon your loss. Just a heads up to tell you that she has admired and cherished your mothers paintings for years. By the way, I deal with many pieces of art and your Mother was extremely talented. God bless you and good luck.. Sincerely, Kristy

Our Dearest Friend Blonda was such

a great lady, who always made you feel so special. She added so much to the joy my dear mother felt being a friend of Blondas and being apart of the Monday Night Family Home Evenings for single, older sisters. We always felt welcome in her home, which she took such good care of and gave so much of herself.

We always marveled at her talents, mostly in her paintings. We never heard Blonda complain or critize others, she gave love and of herself. She has be missed, but the Lord has need for her to be with him. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, her church, family and so many friends. God Bless this dear, wonderful lady.

Blonda is a very Special Friend to our family. We met her soon after our Family's Baptisms in 1978. We lived around the corner from her in Monarch Beach for 25 years & in Palm Desert, Ca. She & I were Stake Missionary companions for 2 years in the Laguna Beach Ward. She was our children's "Surrogate" GrandMa. She taught us many of her skills, i.e. Cooking, How to properly entertain, Art, Music & many funny stories about her life. She took us to a "World series Game" which was very Special. We all love her Dearly & will miss her so much "Till We Meet Again"....Jill & Jerry Johnson and family.
