Brian LaBonge Obituary

May 16, 1940 - January 15, 2021 January 15th was a sad day for anyone who knew Brian. He succumbed to Covid-19 after a 10-day fight. Brian was the eldest of eight brothers - setting a very fast pace from the word go. He brought great enthusiasm & energy to everything he did. Brian had a lifelong advertising career in Southern California covering newspaper, TV and radio, spending 30 years at KNX News. He may have been the only successful salesman without a cell phone during his career believing in face-to-face contact to make the sale. Brian was a fanatical car & racing enthusiast & a devoted fan of his favorite band the Rolling Stones. He also loved his dogs starting with his first, Archie an Old English Sheep Dog. His long-time friend Linda Prior Haas fondly remembers the first time she met Brian. "He & Archie came to my home to have Billy Prior prepare his tax return and we became fast friends. I am proud to have known him for so many years. and will miss him very much."He is survived by his former wife Linda Schlesinger, his children Deborah, Deanna & David, David's wife Betty, his 2 grandsons Cameron & Elliott and his four brothers Denis, Tim, Bob & Mark. He will be greeted in heaven by his mother Mary Louise, father Bob and his brothers Steven, Chris & Tom.And of course his dogs.

I was sad to hear about Brian. He was a dear friend in the 70's. He formed a baseball team called "Archie's Gang" in which I coached. I also worked with Steve at Saveway on Hyperion. Also met Tom. Fond memories many years ago....Gloria Brown

I worked for Bryan when I was at KNX in the early 79s. He had the first all female sales staff and referred to us Bryan´s Angels. He was one and I will always remember him fondly.

Brian was a great guy. When I started at KNX, Brian was always there to offer a kind word of encouragement. He was a great mentor to me as I began my career in radio.

Always wanted to reconnect with my good friend Brian who I enjoyed the
good times with while working together in the KTTV mailroom in the late 50's and early 60's. Guess it will have to wait until later. My love to Linda and all the kids. Tom Price
