It is hard to believe that Carmela is gone. First, with Charles and our parents, Donald and Margaret MacKinnon she was always a part of our lives. Carmela was always there, someone to call or write from Northern California. A true member of our family. Now she is with Charles. She will be missed by all of us.

Zia Carmela, (Aunt Carmela) was one of the most caring people I have ever met. Both of my Grandmothers lived far away. So she pretty much was my 3rd Grandmother. She never forgot a birthday for anyone in my family.Though I was probably the closest to her. She was always interested in my school activities. She always smartly dressed, and when she got sick, it was hard to imagine her being the same person. Every Easter we would go to the Bel-Air Hotel. It was wonderful, the swans out on the lake, her holding my hand. Eveytime we saw each other she would whisper our little secret. My parents were always curious what it was, but I never told them. I never told anyone. Right now I am crying, but she is going to Heaven where she belongs and she is going to see her husband who past away long before she did, she loved him so much. I never got to meet him, neither did my parents, but we know he must of been such a nice for her talk and tell stories about him so much. She always gave me presents and let me play in her house. She always had a plesent aroma that I loved. When I was in Kindergarten, it was Granparents day. I couldn't bring any of my grandparents, so she went with me. I was so happy I could go with her. Parents were not allowed on campus that day, so I held her hand the entire day. It was lovley. I loved hare and she loved me. And I will never ever forget her. I love you Zia Carmela.
