Dear Claire:
I met Charlie and started playing trombone with him in several trombone choirs (including bones west ) in the 1980s. You were such an inspiration to me as you used to attend all of his rehearsals and sat out there listening by yourself. I hoped to find a woman of your beauty some day. To my surprise, I found her in my wife Jean. It was a pleasant surprise when you and Charlie came to EV Free Church in Fullerton where we continued to play together as well as worship. The stories about Charlie's teaching young students without charge are a lesson to me both as a Christian and a human being.

Charlie will be sorely missed, as a musician mentor and friend. I was blessed to have known him and performed with him. Just as I believe in Heaven, I believe that Charlie and my father are in playing Heaven's 1 O'clock lab band. God Bless you Charlie !

Dear Claire:
Charles touched our lives in a positive fashion and we were fortunate to have known him. The world is a better place as a result of his life. Of course, his music lives on and will continue to bring pleasure to others in the future. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
