Charles Warde Obituary

Warde, Charles R.
November 24, 1917 - August 27, 2011
Charles R. (Jack) Warde, Age 93, died August 27, 2011. Born in Los Angeles, California on November 24, 1917 he lived his entire life in Los Angeles.

In 1941 Jack Warde went to work in the mailroom of Bayly, Martin & Fay (BMF), a small insurance brokerage firm. His tenure of over 50 years gave him the distinction of going from being the lowest paid employee to the highest paid executive. He was instrumental in guiding BMF to a position of prominence within the insurance industry and, before his retirement, to become the 6th largest insurance brokerage firm in the world. Jack, as a member of Lloyd's of London, developed several key insurance coverage's for the motion picture industry involving insurance products that are still used today. His knowledge covered every aspect of the insurance industry and his ability to quickly read and understand the bottom line of a financial statement gave him the unique ability to lead the company forward in his no-nonsense manner to heights still acknowledged by many in the insurance industry today.

He was a member of the Los Angeles Country Club and Eldorado Country Club for nearly 60 years and had the distinction of holding Membership Number One at the Jonathan Club.

Jack leaves behind his beloved wife of 17 years, Patricia. He is survived by his five children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his beloved wives Mitzi and Joan.

Jack Warde will be missed by all who knew and loved him. At his request there will be no services. Internment will be at the Forest Lawn Glendale Great Mausoleum. Contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Post Office Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
