Coral Sullivan Obituary

March 2, 1943 - August 12, 2014 On August 12th, "Carl" passed away in Santa Monica, California after a lengthy illness. Carl was born and raised in Big Spring, Texas, and graduated from North Texas State. He married his first wife, Geraldine Agnes Pooler, shortly thereafter and they had two children, Francis Beecher Sullivan (b. 1969) and Caroline Paige Sullivan (b. 1974). Carl joined the Dallas office of Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in 1966 and was later posted to Peat's office in Sydney, Australia for several years as part of an inter-office exchange program. Following his time in Australia, Carl transferred to Peat's Los Angeles' office where he thrived and became a partner in 1975. He played a prominent role in developing the firm's international tax practice on the West Coast, becoming the principal liaison for its Australian clients. Carl continued to practice with Peat, which became part of KPMG in 1997, until he retired. In 1975, shortly after Caroline's birth, Geraldine passed away. While trying to continue his tax accounting practice and to raise two young children on his own, Carl met and married Pamela Rule with whom he had his third child, Bryan Rule Sullivan (b. 1979). Carl's older son Frank was tragically killed in Oregon in 2002. Carl is survived by his children Caroline and Bryan, his former wife Pam, and his sister Lynelle Thomas. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues and fondly remembered for his unique sense of humor and story-telling expertise.
