Dan Chandler Obituary

Chandler, Dan
Resident of Lake Balboa, known to the congregation of The Little Brown Church in Studio City and The Church of the Valley in Van Nuys as "The Rose Man", passed away February 24, 2002 at age 67. In honor of the memory of a beloved friend whose ashes are scattered at The Little Brown Church, Dan spent much of the past ten years tending to landscaping and structural needs required to maintain the church in good repair. In 1997 this labor of love caught the attention of CNN and the Associated Press. In his last days Dan is credited with obtaining enough signatures for the successful renaming of that section of Van Nuys that is now called Lake Balboa. Dan is survived by his beloved son, Jeffrey Chandler of Louisville, Kentucky and his sister and mother, both of Orange County, California. He is also survived by Richard and James Healy and Mathew Kehrer whom he loved as though they were his family. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 16th at 3:30 P.M. at The Little Brown Church located at 4418 Coldwater Canyon Drive in Studio City. In lieu of sending flowers, the family has requested that those wishing to pay their respects make a donation to their preferred charity or to The Little Brown Church for the purchase and care of the plaque and rose bush to be placed at the church in his memory.
