Debbie Robbins Obituary

February 9, 1935 - October 25, 2017 We lost our adored Debbie unexpectedly on Wednesday night to a suspected pulmonary embolism. She left too soon, but went the way she had always wanted to: suddenly and with no pain or suffering. She was vibrant, healthy, and full of life and love until the moment she left this earth with a glass of Cabernet in hand. She was treasured beyond measure by her husband Harold Robbins, known as Hal; her three daughters, Laurie Grant, Lindy Robbins, and Sheri Weitz; her four grandchildren; her son in-laws; and her step-sons, Randy and Gary Robbins, and their children. Born and bred in Los Angeles, Dolores Mae Keltz, known as Debbie, was an only child of Daniel and Ida Keltz. She was proud of being Jewish, but not a religious person. She believed in the Golden Rule, and was a lifelong Democrat. She attended L.A. High, where she was President of the Dante's, and she later attended UCLA. In 1955, Debbie married her high school sweetheart, the late great Wally Wissman, and they moved to Canoga Park where they had their three daughters. After their divorce, she met and married Hal, her wonderful husband of 46 years. He was a steadfast, devoted, and supportive partner and step-father. Never content to be a housewife, Debbie was a pioneer in her own way. She attended night school before rising through the ranks in banking, becoming a highly-regarded and respected Senior Managing Director with clients who followed her loyally to three banks over four decades. She retired after 36 years at the age of 75, even though they urged her to stay. Debbie was extremely creative, and, more than anything, loved interior design and decorating. Her longtime home in Woodland Hills and her more recent dream house in Sherman Oaks were her passion; they could have easily been featured in a magazine. She also liked to paint and knit, and loved to shop, especially with her daughters, who she described as her finest accomplishment. She was very proud of how close her daughters all were with her and each other. After retiring, she was very happy and ready for a new chapter: playing Mahjong and Pan with her many friends, old and new; spending time with her family; going to lunches, dinners, and movies; and playing with her dog, Annie, who she rescued and doted on. She was a world-class beauty, and took tremendous pride in her appearance until her last breath, always looking like a million bucks. She was strong as steel, sweet as pie, loyal to a fault, and cherished more than words could ever express. The hole she leaves in our universe is immeasurable. We are proud of a life well-lived, and will miss her every moment of every day. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Sportsmen's Lodge, Events Center, Waterfall Room. I just discovered Debbie's passing. So sorry for your sudden loss. Even though it would have been nice to perhaps have more closure, I know you all made of point of always letting each other know how important you were in each other's lives and how much you love each other. There's no doubt in my mind that she felt thoroughly loved.

Over the many years I knew her, she always welcomed me like a member of the family. She was a woman of grace, style, warmth and genuine interest in others. She had a way of making you feel special. Always so youthful with a real enjoyment of life, right up to the last second.

Your obituary so beautifully written. What a sensitive, heart felt tribute to an amazing woman, wife, mother and grandmother. I know she will be greatly missed.

Debbie was my moms best friend. They were both attended LA High and had many friends in common. Mom passed in June this year after 2 years of illness. I spoke with Debbie at that time, she expressed her sadness about my mom Frankie. I have so many great memories of Debbie and her family. Debbie will be missed by all.

I love what was written in Debbie's obituary! Such a beloved woman. So well put, and gives such a great insight into the woman she was, and still is in the hearts of her family and friends. Being a friend of Laurie's and Lindy's, I had met Debbie briefly, but am sorry that I didn't get to know her better. I send my heartfelt condolences, my thoughts and prayers, and very much love to her family and friends. Rest in peace, Debbie Robbins.

She was very kind and loving to my two sons Randy and Gary and I was thankful that they both had a close loving relationship with her. She has left us too soon.

Debbie was the most wonderful person I know. She was caring, loving, beautiful and vivacious. You left us too early, but you did not suffer. I will love you and miss you forever, my best friend. Lisa L.
