Sis, you are missed every day. I thank God for being blessed with you as one of my two sisters. I know mom and dad and your two siblings (Catherine and Earnest) welcomed you to eternity. While you lived, your artistic talent and support complimented me in so many ways and contributed to my success on many levels. The signature logo that you designed for Bison on the Vineyard (Howard University alumni on Martha's Vineyard) was vivid all over our 2024 Bison on the Vineyard Martha's Vineyard August celebration. You made an impact and you are being remembered. LOVE YOU SIS...

My heart is filled with sadness at Della's passing. We had lost touch over the years and I am so grateful to Sarah for calling to share her last moments with her sister. Della and I met freshman year at Bryn Mawr College and formed an instant connection as fellow southerners. She was funny, warm, and oh so elegant! When I was planning my wedding to take place right after graduation, I chose Della as one of my bridesmaids. (We both married Bernards!) We only saw each other a few times after that but the bond from those early years endured. Farewell, my friend!

I will miss my beloved beautiful sister. She was a true friend. I give thanks to God for blessing me with a sister who was devoted to family and friends. She taught us mercy and love. A favorite saying of her was, "You are better than that." She always looked for the best in people. Before she died, she told me, "I love you to the moon and back." I told her, "I love you to the moon and back. She also thanked me for my sisterly love and support. She has joined her late husband who died in 2015 and the ancestors. She taught us how to live and how to die. RIP sis, I will see you on the other side.

I remember so well the first day I met Della. We were both attending the organizing meeting of a Board that we had been invited to join. The meeting was hosted at this beautifully elegant restaurant in downtown LA. Following all the usual introductions to each other and to the mission of the emerging organization, we all enjoyed dinner and conversation - each describing talents that we felt would be helpful in bringing that mission forward. Della was full of many actionable ideas which she quietly described to the group. She was also an avid listener with a very reassuring smile. I overheard her mentioning that she was originally from North Little Rock, Arkansas as we made our way to the parking structure at the end of the meeting. My heart was immediately overjoyed. This was the first time that I had met someone from North Little Rock during my decades living here in Southern California. I am originally from Little Rock and meeting Della was like coming home. The last two times I saw her after several years was at the 2019 Villager Awards in Long Beach, Ca where her sister Sarah Davidson was being honored. There was Della dressed in beautiful colors and looking absolutely regal as she stood in support of her sister. I later invited Della and Sarah to join me for lunch at City Club LA overlooking the city from 51 stories up. The conversation was truly uplifting and reflective of the spirit that Della left with all of us! On behalf of myself, and all of us here at Afram Global Organization Inc, Annual Villager Awards, I send my most sincere condolences to Della´s family and to all others whose lives were impacted by her presence on this earth. Peace be still... Rest in Peace dear Della!
