Donald Meder Obituary

December 17, 1932 - August 15, 2025 Donald Thomas Meder passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 15, 2025. A successful stockbroker and longtime Angeleno, Don was born in 1932 in Mansfield, Ohio to Sophie and Michael Meder and had two older brothers, Michael Jr and Ed (aka "Babe"). Don's family moved West to Inglewood, California in 1947 when his Dad opened a bowling alley. He attended El Camino Junior College and was President of the Freshman Class along with being elected Student Body President. Early during the Cold War, he dutifully enlisted in the Navy in San Diego and was appointed by Congress to attend the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, before returning home and graduating with honors from USC.

Not long after college, Don began a long and fulfilling career as a stockbroker, ultimately rising to Managing Director with Bear Stearns in Century City, before the firm was acquired by JP Morgan. Tall, handsome and charming – along with a nose for value – Don was a pillar at the firm, made myriad smart investments for clients and his family, and helped develop the next generation of financial advisors (he famously sold his Bear Stearns stock before the collapse of the firm, a move many attribute to his prudence and prescience).

In the late 1990's, while counseling a particularly alluring client from the South, he met and married the love of his life, Miss Earlene Trotter Watkins of Norfolk, Virginia, which began a joyous life together of nearly 30 years. They were a stunning couple and shared Don's passion for Ferraris, golf and all things sports.

Don is predeceased by his immediate family and survived by his wife Earlene, who will always cherish the memories of his dashing nature and the special bonds they shared.

Don will be laid to rest besides his parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City with services provided by a Naval Honor Guard. May he rest in peace.
