Doryce McCutchan Obituary
October 15, 1930 - December 13, 2024 Doryce Lorraine (Taylor) McCutchan was born in Southgate, California, and was the fourth child of Sigrid Katherine Anderson and Robert Hector Taylor. Doryce graduated from Roosevelt High School before going on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California in 1953. Following graduation, Doryce taught 5th Grade during the school year and traveled the world with her best friend during the summers. Doryce was living/teaching in South San Francisco when a friend introduced her to Tom McCutchan, Sr., at a young Republican's gathering. This introduction was the start of a beautiful relationship that lasted for more than 55 years, a testament to the enduring love they shared, before Tom passed away in 2014. Tom and Doryce left the Bay Area and moved to San Marino in 1963, where they raised their two children. Doryce's ultimate focus was her family – whom she loved dearly. Additionally, Doryce was involved in several community organizations over the years, such as the Pasadena Guild of Children's Hospital, The Luminaires, Nine O'Clock Players, and Trojan League of Los Angeles. An accomplished artist, Doryce also painted portraits and landscapes that rapidly became treasured keepsakes for her friends and family. We will miss her ability to see beauty in everyday life, her captivating storytelling, her simple elegance, and, most of all, her beautiful smile. Doryce is survived by her children and their spouses, Tom & DeeDee McCutchan and Katie and Tim Carey; her seven grandchildren, Christine Cook (Matthew), Kimberly Hatton (Todd), Courtney Dowd (Sierra), Madison, Thomas, Grace and Taylor Carey; her four great-grandchildren, Clayton and Patrick Cook, Oliver and Emma Hatton; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will be forever grateful for Doryce's love. "To feel great loss is to have known great love." Doryce was remembered by her family in a private service and burial on December 27th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doryce's beloved charity, The Pasadena Guild of Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 51101, Pasadena, CA. 91115.
