E. Theodore Parker

1930 - 2017

July 24, 1930 - August 3, 2017 On Thursday, August 3, 2017, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Ted Parker passed away at age 87. Ted Parker was born in Dayton, Ohio to parents Ted and Virginia Parker. He grew up in Glendale, CA and graduated from Glendale High School. He then attended Glendale Junior College and went on to graduate from USC with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ted also had graduate courses in Machine Design & Thermodynamics at USC. He was in the 40th Division of the National Guard and was activated to fight in the Korean War as an S.F.C. Combat Engineer. Among many other successful endeavors, Ted had his own business as a CAD (Computer Aided Design) Coach. Though he retired from this at age 77, Ted continued to be passionate about being part of the swift development of technology throughout his lifetime, always trying to be up to date with the latest in computers. This passion, however, was no match for the love Ted had for being with his family. Ted and his family spent vacations at the beach and camping, where he enjoyed hobbies such as bird-watching. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember the many trips and books he was so excited about providing for them. Ted met his wife, Louise Parker, of 61 years at L.A. City College, and they were married September 3, 1955 in Glendale. They lived in several locations in California as well as Alabama for a very short time before settling down in Arcadia to raise their four children. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Louise; his children Larry (Peggy), Cathy (Jay) Oliver, Russell (Carmela), and Diane (Gary) Derner; his grandchildren Dale Winston, Kristen (Christopher) Forum, Toni (Jeff) Cronk, Kimberlee (Benton) Trerise, Angela (Grant) Curell, Jamie Nelson and his six great-grandchildren. The family would like to send out a big thank you for the exceptional care, personal attention, and making Ted, Louise, and family feel like part of the family at Silverado Sierra Vista. Memorial Services will be held at The Little Church of the Flowers, Glendale Forest Lawn, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:00 am.
