June 13, 1925 - April 10, 2017 Passed peacefully on April 10th, 2017. Enjoyed life to the fullest, especially fishing. Achieved happiness by focusing on family, friends, and goodwill. Along with his brother, Henry "Hank" Baizer, successfully founded and ran A&B Chevy Service in West Los Angeles, for over 40 years. Past President of the West Los Angeles Optimist Club, where he worked tirelessly for the Optimist Home For Boys. Past President of the West Los Angeles chapter of the Jewish War Veterans. Served in the 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army in WWII. At 6'7", he was fortunate to be a member of the Tall Towers Club. It was at one of their events that he met 5'2" Betty Rosen, who became his wife until her passing in 2010. Always happy to help a friend, he was the go-to guy for anything that needed fixing. He loved fishing, poker, ballroom dancing and fishing. Mostly, he loved fishing. Loving father of Howard Baizer, Shelly and Michael Krieger, and grandfather of Samantha and Joey Krieger. The family is very grateful to his many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his caregiver Maria, who helped him through his declining years. Services will be held today, Wednesday, April 12th, 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Park, (800) 576-1994.

I was 17 years old and attending Uni High when Ed first hired me as a cashier! I remember how fascinated I was with the size of his hands and his height! A big man with a huge heart and smile! I used to call him a giant teddy bear. I learned how to count back cash without a calculator and learned a lot about cars hanging around the shop! Hank, Jack, and Scott were also my also my faves and the girls in the office. I look back at those days on West Los Angeles fondly and Ed is part of my growing up years! Every time I drive by Westgate and Santa Monica Blvd (and now Barrington and SM Blvd.), I go back in time all over again. He is everything people wrote about him! A lot of it I never knew. We always miss people like him. Kindness is unforgettable and he was in so many ways! Best regards to his family and friends. Miss you, Ed!

Ed was the Kindest and most Generous person I ever knew, the world is a better place because of him having been in it. I have missed you these years my friend and could never Thank You enough for all you did for me. There are MANY who I watched you help, never asking for anything in return, I just hope they realize how much you did for them also. Ed was a larger than life personality in my life growing up in Santa Monica. My father, Phillip Boomgard met Ed along with his brother at A & B Chevy and became friends. They fished together at various venues in the Southland (Lake Elsinor, off Santa Monica Pier to name a few) even after Phil moved to Long Beach. I was floored when Ed showed up at my dad's 90th birthday about 3 1/2 years ago in Palm Desert. He made a "herculean effort" to get there.
Ed had the biggest heart I ever knew. My heart and love goes out to his family! He preceded my father by a month. Here's to catching the big one, eating lunch and having some laughs.

I am deeply saddened for the loss of Ed, he was a great inspiration to me for many years. We shared many things and he taught me to be a great fisherman and dancer. I absolutely loved him and we shared many laughs for he had a great sense of humor. I am sure that he is in a better place and blessed in every way. I will always have a special place in my heart for him. My condolences to his family. I will miss him. May he rest in peace.

I'm so sorry for the passing of my brother-in law. I always felt we had a special connection, especially since we were the same age. He always included me as family, even after my divorce. He gave me a job, and was always there to make sure I was ok. I love him very much, and will miss him a lot.

We've all got a hole in our hearts and lives since the passing of Ed. Frome the day I met him in 1981 standing next to Howard in A&B Chevy we looked each other in the eye (I'm 1 inch taller) and knew we'd be friends for a long time. From fishing togeather to breakfast in the Marina to tinkering in his garage on the World Famous Kuichi Canoe, I always felt like I had a West Coast Father next to me. No matter what crazy ideas I'd run by Ed, he'd always laugh and say "YOU'RE CRAZY" "MASHOUGINA" and that's how I nick named him "SHOIGIE"! It was our instant way of greeting each other, on the phone 3,000 miles away of when I knocked on his front door. He'd always end every meeting or call with "I LUV YA"! well Ed my old friend, we will get togeather for another fishing trip someday, I LUV YA TOO Shougie! God Bless you.
