Edward Berinstein Obituary

BERINSTEIN, Edward Jay Passed away at home, after a yearlong illness from lung cancer, on May 25, 2009. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 14, 1930 and was proprietor of Harris Pharmacy in Springfield, Mass. and of Longmeadow Pharmacy in Longmeadow, Mass. before moving to Hollywood in 1978. He was a graduate of Mount Hermon Preparatory School, Northfield, Mass. and from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, Mass. He was an active member of the Melha Temple in Springfield and President of the Western Massachusetts Pharmacists Association. He leaves his wife, Garnet (Davidson) of Holyoke, Mass.; his daughter, Heidi and son-in-law, Terry Kirkman of Pasadena; his son, Todd Harry and daughter-in-law Joni, grandson Zachary and granddaughter Carly Rose of Portland, Oregon; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Morton Katz of Enfield, Conn.; niece, Betsey Wolfson and nephew Lewis Wolfson of Mass.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tobi and Brandt Wax of Beverly Hills; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sherwood and Sona Davidson of Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 1 p.m., at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5940 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. "Shivah" will be observed at his home from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for two days, Thursday and Friday, following interment.
