Sherrill, I just came across this. You may not remember me. You taught my SMC class in 1977 when my mother had a stroke and I went back to Alabama for a month. I'm so sorry about your husband's death. I'm also impressed by all that you have accomplished, especially for Santa Monica.

I was also a friend of Eddie's in high school and in medical school. I was drawn by an outer quiet, gentle and self effacing manner which belied an intelligence, charming humor and strong work ethic. I last saw him at his dad's funeral in Winnipeg. I am still taken aback by his sudden loss. Condolences to his wife and children and his sister Soshana.

My sincere condolences to Sherrill and the family at your loss. Eddy and I were classmates in Winnipeg from 1959-64, when we graduated from Joseph Wolinsky Collegiate, and we remained friends as undergrads at the University of Manitoba. I was thrilled to meet Eddy and Sherrill in 2005 during their visit to Montreal, and to stay connected in recent years through Skype and Facebook. Eddy was always warm, generous, and funny. His untimely passing leaves a void which hopefully his memory will help fill.

I worked with Dr Klein for years at Centinela Hospital in Inglewood. He was sharp, efficient, and very competent. I never heard a derogatory comment about him from any nurse. He was easy to work with, always pleasant. He never said a harsh word. We all miss him.

Dr. Klein was Gardena Convalescent Center's Medical Director for a good number of years and I had the honor of working with him for 3 years. He was a quiet, calming presence in our hallways when he came for his visits, had a ready smile for his patients, reverted to his efficient Spanish when he needed to be understood better, had terribly short answers but honest ones during our monthly meetings, and laughed quietly when the nurses find the nerve to tease him. He doesn't ask for much, just a cup of coffee on those days when he needed to tackle a mountain of charts at lunch. His patients love him. So do their families who are sometimes pleasantly surprised to get a direct call from him for certain issues. We miss Dr. Klein dearly but we also treasure the short but memorable experience of sharing this existence with such a remarkable doctor and person.

Eddy was my oldest friend. He was 6 years old when we met in Winnipeg. We were the sons of Holocaust survivors.
We went to elementary and high schools and summer camp together, we grew radishes at the back of the restaurant/store his parents' once operated, we carpooled together to the University of Manitoba and, when he was a resident at a Winnipeg hospital before departing for LA, he treated my my young cousin who is now a radiologist in Chattanooga.
Eddy was a generous, kind, and thoughtful soul. It was a treat to see him in Toronto in March. We miss him dearly.
Sincerest condolences to Sherrill, Alana, and Shana.

This is Dr. Klein's daughter, Alana. It means so much to me and my family to hear these kind words and memories of our father. He loved his work and his patients. Not only was he an incredible doctor but he was also the best father anyone could have asked for. Words cannot express how much we love and will miss him.

I called Dr. Klein's office today to set up my next appointment. I was given the sad news that he passed away unexpectedly last week. He had been my doctor for 4 years and was one of the best that I had ever had. I wish his family every sympathy and condolence.

After knowing Dr. Klein for more than 20 years I was very distressed to hear of his passing. I send my condolences to his family. I will always remember his smiling face, and his gentle nature. I am a Registered Nurse and worked along side of him at Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center ( now at Marina Del Rey Hospital) prior to it's closing. He will be missed. Be at peace my friend.....
